Quantum of Solace ***/5

A Bond film with less sex and gadgets.

The story in brief (... very brief):
To be honest, I'm still quite confused. Anyway, this is my take (which shouldn't deviate far from the intended plot). There's a mysterious evil organisation which had earlier led to the death of Bond's beloved Vesper. Although MI6's priorities were to hunt down MI6 and stop whatever evil plots that they're hatching, Bond got all overwhelmed by his personal vengeance and thus inadvertently made MI6 (and also America's CIA) think that he was out of control. The result - the good and bad guys were after him but good old M's trust in her agent made the story end in the 'happily ever after' style.

The verdict:
Besides the fast and confusing car chase and human chase, coupled with almost no sex scenes, a single mobilephone gadget and Microsoft touch screen OS, this ain't quite the typical Bond film one would expect. Complex (and confusing) plots and actions from a dirty and haggard Daniel Craig somehow reduces the glamour of a top spy film.

Catch it on a weekday, if you really have to. :)
