The Little Red Dot

Our 'friendly' neighbours are testing water (again)!

Indonesia bans the sale of sand to Singapore. Reason - to pressure Singapore to give in regarding some extradition issues. Thailand threatens to (hostilely) buy back Temasek-held Telco shares and satellites. Reason - violation of national security and interests.

Malaysia wants to impose road tolls, catch red-plated weekend cars and overly-tinted car windows, imprison 'illegal' trespassers into Johor, sue Singapore for causing the floods in JB because of land reclamations in Pulau Tekong etc... the list goes on.

PM Lee sure is taking the heat (or beat). A new leader at the helm, being subjected to all these 'pushing'. So what if Singapore has helped our neighbouring countries in so many ways and areas? Do they know what is 'gratitude'? Or do their dictionaries comprise of only words like 'envy', 'petty' and 'vindictive'? Every new cycle of leadership (or elections in Singapore or other countries) seem to be the start of another salvo of attacks on this little red dot.

So what's next? The Aussie government confiscating Singtel-held Optus shares? The Philippines banning their ladies from working as domestic maids in Singapore? Perhaps they can start blaming us for El Nino.

Oh the 'fad' of El Nino is long gone and I'm sure they can be more creative than me. Maybe the bird flu? -__-"
