"The calling to teach is so strong now!" - quote from the press who had interviewed the public on the recent pay increase in the teaching profession, especially for mid-careerist.
The official reason (excuse or pretence) is to attract 'talents' to as well as retain 'talents' in the Service. However, is the monetary reward the only effective tool here? It seems that MOE is desperate, resorting to this measure instead of tackling the real issue of why this profession isn't attractive enough and why 'talents' are leaving. Do we really believe when they say that the reason is the 'cash factor'? Who are they kidding? Those outside the Service? Yes. Those in the Service now? Bullsh*t!To make matters worse, they still dare say that the 'calling' to teach will be stronger now. Obviously they are not referring to the calling from the heart but from the cash. No doubt the cash factor plays a big part but isn't it time for them to be honest with themselves, face and solve the problems at hand?
