I sure did walk out happy.
Another Disney kiddy flick with lots of 'children' singing that makes it a kind of movie for the lower Primary pupils? You are wrong!
The story in brief:
Emperor penguins (traditionally) finds their mate by singing a heart song to each other. But our star, Mumble Happy Feet is not a born-singer. However he has his unique way of expression - tap dancing. But his talent is not welcomed by the 'tribe' and thus he is ostracized. Soon he left the tribe and chanced upon the friendship of 5 'Latino' penguins who accepted him for who he is and appreciates Mumble's 'talent'.
Meanwhile, sources of food (fishes) for the tribe are going down and the situation is endangering the survival of these Antarctic creatures. "Aliens" are rumoured to have caused this shortage in fishes and Mumble embarks on an incredible journey with his Latino amigos and finally returns to the tribe with the truth!
The verdict:
Its not children singing but adults belting out pop numbers in a carefully composed medley. Along with the stunning visuals, the whole show is a like a live pop musical! Not forgetting the wonderful comedian roles of the Latino penguins headed by Ramon (voiced over by Robin Williams). Visual and audio entertainment - Excellent!

The director tries to tie in many issues into the plot - Accepting others for who they are; Conforming to society norms or going against the flow; Conflicts of values between two different generations; Mutual understanding and cooperation between two species for a common goal; Environmental protection. I guess the main learning point from the show is that everyone (both humans and animals) can 'dance to the same steps' to protect our environment. It's not just human's or penguin's world. It is OUR world, OUR Earth.
Educational and definitely entertaining for all ages! =)
